Yellow Hearts to Remember- Covid19 Facebook Support Group
The Yellow Hearts to Remember campaign was founded by David Gompertz after the death of his much loved wife, Sheila Gompertz, due to Covid-19.
David suggested that individuals who have been affected by loss during the coronavirus pandemic display a yellow heart in their window, to show how the country is covered with families that have lost somebody and been touched by this pandemic. The Yellow Heart has since become a national symbol of remembrance.
The Gompertz family went on to create a Facebook group called ‘Yellow Hearts to Remember-Covid19’ so that grieving families have a place to share photos of their yellow hearts, personal experiences or just feel comfort in the fact that they are not alone. This Facebook group has grown to have over 6000 members. People come together to remember those who have so sadly died too soon and support those who have been left behind.
We aim to ensure:
-the nation is aware of the enormous personal tragedy we are experiencing
-our loved ones are not just thought of as statistics
-our loved ones are remembered
-no one who has lost a loved one to coronavirus is alone
We are thinking of you and when you are ready to talk, we are here to listen.
