On Monday 4th Dec we have our monthly Bereavement Cafe 10:30 at Halton Lea Library. Everyone is welcome & some of the feedback we received was “everyone who participated seemed to get something out of the group”.

North Manchester General Hospital Staff Cafe
North Manchester General Hospital are holding a cafe for staff in the maternity unit and are raising funds for the charity via a raffle and bake sale.
National Grief Awareness Week collective poem (hosted by St Christopher’s)
From Tuesday 5 December, we’ll have a stand at St Christopher’s Sydenham where we’re inviting people to create a collective poem. The stand will also signpost support for our community, including staff, and feature case studies from peer support groups and 1-2-1 peer support. The poem will be entitled ‘My Grief is…’

Creative Bereavement Event – Memorial Bauble
Join us at 10:00 AM GMT for a heartfelt and creative event. Our Creative Bereavement Event – Memorial Bauble provides a safe space for individuals to talk about and remember their loved ones.
During this in-person event, Vikki will guide you through the process of creating personalised memorial baubles. These beautiful ornaments can be customised with cherished photos, heartfelt messages, or any design that represents your loved one.
Please bring along your loved one’s mementos (materials will be available as well) and Vikki will offer guidance throughout the event. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced crafter, this event is open to all skill levels. It’s a wonderful opportunity to express your emotions, connect with others who have experienced loss, and find solace in the act of creating something meaningful.
Take this chance to share stories, memories, and laughter with a supportive community. By the end of the event, you will have a unique memorial bauble to treasure and hang on your tree each year, keeping the memory of your loved one alive.
Don’t miss out on this special event – a session of creativity, support, signposting and remembrance. Even if you don’t want to make anything, please just come along and join the conversation!

Leeds Bereavement Forum’s Annual General Meeting

We are really pleased to welcome Ted Bowman back to Leeds for his fourth visit, after his most recent appearance at our last ‘in real life’ pre-pandemic AGM in 2019. At our AGM this year he will be speaking about “Narrative Power: Finding Words for Living, Dying, Death and Bereavement.” Ted Bowman is a grief and family educator based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA. For over 40 years he has been teaching, leading workshops, writing and providing consultation about disruptive changes and their resulting loss and grief. He was an adjunct instructor in the School of Social Work for the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, teaching courses on grief counselling and therapy. For the past 20 years, he has travelled annually to England, Scotland and Ireland for work with hospice, mental health, and grief and bereavement care settings.

Drop-in event at our GP practice at Station Road Surgery in Sowerby Bridge from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
This event is very informal and although it is being hosted at Station Road Surgery, it is open to anyone. Two bereavement counsellors have been invited and the Sowerby Bridge councillor will be attending too. Refreshments will be available.

Wellbeing Webinar – Exploring Grief & Depression
The Good Grief Trust team have shared this years theme of ‘better together’. This is one that focuses on the connection of communities with professionals, to help those who have maybe experienced a bereavement, to help them feel less alone.
When someone is experiencing bereavement, some don’t like to talk about it, but it can be easier to talk about it, with those who have experienced something similar.
With this in mind for anyone who feels they may need support, please do join us as we deliver our Exploring Grief & Depression webinar.

Armagh City Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council Building Light Up
Later today our most iconic buildings will light up orange as we mark the start of #NationalGriefAwarenessWeek (2-8 December). Led by The Good Grief Trust, it aims to raise awareness about the impact of grief and create a unified voice for all bereavement support services across the UK.
Grief is a natural response to loss and should be met with understanding and support. This year’s theme of #BetterTogether is about connecting with communities through shared events, sharing their stories and learning how to support one another during difficult times.
