Welcome to Seasons for Growth

Seasons for Growth has been helping children, young people and adults across Scotland since 2001. In that time we have trained over 9,000 Companions to deliver the programme in authorities across Scotland. Seasons for Growth is most often delivered in schools and through voluntary agencies.

– Over 7,500 children and adults attended groups in the last year. 
– Seasons for Growth programme was evaluated for the 6th time in 2019.
– Evaluation confirmed the programme’s well-designed and well-delivered nature with high satisfaction levels.
– The programme is associated with positive change in children and young people who have experienced loss and change.
– It received a ‘High’ rating for impact in the Australian Research Council’s engagement and impact assessment 2018-19 National Report Fact Sheet.

Our Services

Our educational programmes

We train and support facilitators, known as 'Companions', to deliver our educational programmes directly to children, young people and adults in their schools and communities. There are three programmes:

Child Programme

Builds knowledge and skills to strengthen the emotional wellbeing and resilience of children and young people following experiences of significant change and loss.

Adult Programme

An education programme that supports adults to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to understand and respond well to experiences of change, loss and grief.

Parent Programme

Provides parents and carers with an opportunity to better understand the experiences of death, separation and divorce from a child or young person's perspective and offers ways to provide support.

We provide training for professionals, educators and organisations interested in implementing our programmes to support individuals dealing with change, loss and grief. To successfully participate in online training you will need a computer (with camera and microphone) reliable internet access and a quiet space..

Extensive research and rigorous evaluation showcase the profound positive impact of our programmes. Seasons programmes have supported more than 400,000 children, young people and adults in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales. An extensive evidence base for the efficacy of the programmes has been established through high-quality research, evaluations, practitioner generated evidence and participant feedback throughout the history of the programmes.
