Unspoken Sorrows by Nu McAdam
For National Grief Awareness Week 2025, Brass Bathtub presents Unspoken Sorrows — an exhibition of paintings by Nu McAdam and an installation by guest artist Mary DeLiso of the Brighton Death Collective.
The exhibition concludes a two-year, UK-wide disability-arts project led by McAdam, a quadriplegic mouth painter exploring grief, healing, and creative expression. Developed through workshops and peer exchanges with disabled participants, Unspoken Sorrows reflects on how art can transform grief into connection and collective understanding.
Produced by Brass Bathtub, the exhibition provides an accessible, reflective space for conversation and rest. Small public events, led by McAdam and supported by Marion Déprez (Brass Bathtub)and Mary DeLiso (Brighton Death Collective) will explore how experiences of grief within the disabled community may differ from those without disability.
“My experiences with counselling, until I found a way to advocate for myself, were limited and difficult to access. I wanted to put my grief into a place where others could relate to it and consider how to express themselves without boundaries.” — Nu McAdam

✨ Little Trees of Light: Remembering Your Child This Christmas✨
For many Christmas can a thing of beauty, fun and laughter, but it can also be a season of quiet heartache and dread when you are grieving for your child or baby. This year, we want to help you carry that love and memory forward.
Our dedicated crochet group has lovingly handmade beautiful Christmas tree decorations that will first adorn, with love, our Christmas Tree at the St Mary’s Church Christmas Tree Festival in Stafford from the 1st-8th December.
💜A Personalized Token of Love🎄
We invite you to give a personalized decoration a special place on our tree. It’s a small, gentle way to ensure the memory of your child or loved one shines brightly this festive season.
Once the festival concludes, we will be carefully packaging and posting your decoration to you to keep forever.
We extend a huge thank you to the The Stafford Building Society for generously sponsoring our beautiful Christmas tree this year. Their support, along with that of Turnaround Print Services Ltd for sponsoring and personalizing your decorations, helps make this gesture of remembrance possible.

Cafe for people from LGBTQIA+ communities
This will be an opportunity for people to come together with the intention of talking openly about death, grief and loss. In a society where these conversations can be taboo, a Death Cafe can be a liberating space where we can skip the small talk.
It’s not grief counseling or therapy but a space for open honest conversation, the chance to ask questions and an opportunity to explore ideas about life, death and our place in the universe.
We will be hosted by Central Library in Newcastle and they’re even providing tea and coffee. If you are curious and ready for an afternoon of interesting conversations, please join me.
