I am a Solicitor with Stapleton Gardner & Co, a small practice in Morley, West Yorkshire. I have specialised in administering estates, planning for the minimisation of care home fees and Inheritance Tax liabilities and enabling clients to remain living independently in their own homes. It’s a job I get a great deal of satisfaction from and I have 25 years of experience at it. I believe I had empathy with my clients in my early days, but as my own husband died 6 years ago, I now have personal experience of how it feels to be a widow. I prefer to see my clients in person, so that I can talk through all the issues which are affecting them and I am willing to visit clients who live locally if they are housebound. As the world has embraced video conferencing, I now find I can be available for face to face consultations with clients across the country. I am willing to give an initial free interview and advise on many matters on a pro bono basis. I always make sure that clients have a good grasp of the likely costs of the case – frequently a fixed fee – before they instruct me to undertake any work on their behalf. My clients frequently comment on how surprisingly quickly and cost effectively I deal with the affairs of their loved one.
