OWLS (Overcoming Worry, Loss and Sadness) Bereavement Service is funded by donations to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. Founded in 2019, we support primary school-aged children and their families living in Leeds following the death of someone special.
We provide family support in the form of our OWLS Lending Library and signposting to local adult services; we offer 1:1 psychoeducation for children so they can better understand grief and its effects; schools are supported through free training sessions for staff and workshops and assemblies for children; we run regular peer support activity days, where bereaved families can come together and build an informal, supportive network; we also have an experienced Dramatherapist who provides clinical support for children psychologically affected by their bereavement.
All our services are provided free of charge, thanks to Jane Tomlinson Appeal fundraisers.
